These engines are known to produce an oil leak from the cam cradle which allows oil to run down the front of the engine block and onto the water pump housing. Over time this oil will deteriorate the plastic of the water pump housing which will cause a coolant leak.

Upgrading to an aluminum housing will prevent any future water pump failures caused by the oil leak.
