Audi VW 2.0T FSI Camshaft Follower
The 2.0T FSI camshaft follower sits between the intake camshaft lobe and the high-pressure fuel pump, transferring motion to the pump piston. This component is a known wear item on all 2.0T FSI engines.
Over time, the follower can wear down, leading to fuel system issues. In severe cases, the follower may wear through completely, allowing the fuel pump piston to contact and damage the intake camshaft.
Regular inspection is strongly recommended to ensure the follower remains in good condition. This is particularly important for modified engines operating at higher-than-stock boost levels, as increased stress can accelerate wear.
Recommended inspection intervals:
-
Highly modified vehicles: every 10,000–15,000 kms
-
Stock vehicles: every 30,000–45,000 kms
